Garden State Gridiron - Week 6, 2020

Week 6 Roundup of New Jersey NFL Football

GIANTS PREVIEW

The Giants will host Washington this week in a battle to avoid last place in the NFC East. Rookie tackle Andrew Thomas will face his toughest test yet. Washinton sports one of the most talented and aggressive defensive lines in the league. Daniel Jones will need to utilize his mobility to stay on his feet and out of the arms of that front seven. New York entered the week as a 4-point favorite and the line has shifted to –2.5 as of the time of this article. There appears to be a bit more faith in the teams’ defenses with a low 42.5-point over/under, but if the same Giants offense as last week shows up, the over should be easily attained. Screens and slants to Darius Slayton and Golden Tate should be the basis of the Giants’ offense, and if Bradberry can contain Terry McLaurin, it could be a good day for the G-Men.

JETS PREVIEW

The further hindered Jets will square off against the Dolphins in South Florida this weekend. Miami’s confidence is riding high after last week’s impressive victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The Dolphins are currently 8.5-point home favorites with an over/under of 47.5. Miami quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been playing very well over the past few weeks. Nearing the end of his career, Fitzpatrick is playing a loose style of football and his body language shows that he is having a ton of fun and has nothing to lose. Meanwhile, the Jets are moving in the opposite direction with release of Le’Veon Bell. Miaimi is expected to win comfortably.

EAGLES PREVIEW

The Eagles will host the Baltimore Ravens in their first home game with fans in attendance. Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz referred to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as “probably the most dangerous player in the league,” at his press conference this week. Schwartz’s defense has historically struggled against mobile quarterbacks like Russell Wilson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Cam Newton, and Lamar Jackson blows all of them away on the ground. Partner that with the fact that the Eagles have the worst group of linebackers in the entire league, and Lamar Jackson is due for a big day. The Ravens are currently 7.5-point road favorites with an implied point total of 28. This is not a great matchup for the Birds, so this might be another week to root for a moral victory.
