In our 'Bet of the Week' series, Tipico Sportsbook highlights some of the most notable wagers of the previous week.

A Tipico customer from New Jersey literally parlayed his faith in the Sacramento Kings to turn a $5 bet into a $2,514.87 cash-out that took nearly five months to complete.

On Nov. 16, 2022, this better placed $5 on an interesting parlay on two different futures markets: Nick Bosa to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award in the NFL and the Sacramento Kings to win the Pacific Division in the NBA.

Bosa was an easy call. The San Francisco 49ers edge rusher was already having another great season and was widely being predicted to win DPOY by mid-November.

But picking the Kings to win the Pacific was a definite leap of faith. Sacramento hadn't even been to the playoffs since 2006 and of course their division rival Golden State Warriors were coming off their fourth title in eight years.

15-Leg Parlay Pays Big

Bosa delivered by winning his first DPOY in February after recording 18.5 sacks and helping lead the 49ers to the NFL West Division title.

Two months later, the Kings won the Pacific with a 48-34 record, finishing ahead of the Suns, Clippers, Warriors and Lakers in what was quite possibly the toughest division in the NBA this season.

This Tipico customer's bet was particularly bold for the Kings leg as they were 7-6 at the time of placement (8th in the Western Conference) and behind the Suns in the division standings.

But it goes to show a small investment can turn into a big payout! Take a look at our futures options across all sports and see if you can have the same luck! Log in or register here.

WHAT'S A PARLAY?

A parlay is a bet that combines two or more separate outcomes for higher odds and a potentially greater payout. They can combine bets in the same game or in multiple different games.

For example, let's say Cleveland is playing Baltimore and Cincinnati is playing Detroit. It's been 27 years since the move, but it might as well been last night, and we already know you don't give a darn for the whole the state of Michigan, so you decide to take both Cleveland and Cincy as outright winners in a parlay.

Parlays can include as many bets as your sportsbook allows with each added leg increasing the possible payout. However, every leg of the parlay -- in this case, Cleveland and Cincinnati -- must win for the parlay to win. If any leg loses, the bet loses.

Like bringing groceries in on one try, each added item makes the trip a bit more risky, but that much more satisfying when it works.
