This Weekend in Sports previews the biggest games and events for the coming weekend.

NBA Playoffs, Conference Semifinals

Dallas Mavericks at Minnesota Timberwolves
Game 2, 8:30 p.m. ET Friday; Game 3, 8 p.m. ET Sunday

The Mavs took the opener on the strength of a combined 63 points from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but these teams look evenly matched, so this series could go the full seven games. Look for Minnesota to come up with a better game plan against Doncic, and they’ll need more than 35 points combined from Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards.

Tipico bettors have put 68% of the money on the Timberwolves for Game 2 at -230.

Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers, Game 3, 8:30 p.m. ET Saturday

Indiana squandered a golden opportunity to steal Game 1 in Boston, a loss that could eventually ruin them. But Boston has stumbled early in each of their previous two playoff series, so maybe the Pacers can make up for blowing Game 1.

Tipico bettors have put 63% of the money on the Celtics at -270.

Tipico bettors have put 62% of the money on the Rangers in Game 2 at -110.

Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars, Game 2, 8 p.m. ET Saturday

The Oilers have the top three players in points per game in these playoffs — Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, and Evan Bouchard. They’ll have to create offense against Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger, who has a .918 save percentage in the playoffs.

Tipico bettors have put 99% of the money on the Stars at -135.

Indy 500, 3:45 p.m. ET Sunday

Tipico odds: Scott McLaughlin +500, Josef Newgarden +520, Will Power +670, Kyle Larson +700, Patricio O’Ward +900

Rain could derail the annual showcase race at the Brickyard. Kyle Larson will try to be the fifth driver to do the “double” — competing in both the Indy 500 and then the NASCAR Cup Series’ Coca-Cola 600 later on Sunday. That’s 1,100 miles in one day, and hasn’t been attempted since Kyle Busch did it in 2014. And only one driver — Tony Stewart in 2001 — has managed to complete both races.

Row 1 in the starting grid will be all Team Penske — Scott McLaughlin, Will Power and defending champion Josef Newgarden.

Tipico bettors have put 30% of the money on Patricio O’Ward at +900.

Coca-Cola 600, 6 p.m. ET Sunday

Tipico odds: Kyle Larson +450, Denny Hamlin +600, Tyler Reddick +770, Ryan Blaney +950, William Byron +950

Larson is the favorite, but he is scheduled to compete in the Indy 500 earlier in the day at the Brickyard. No driver who has ever attempted the feat has won either race. Nonetheless, Larson dominated here in 2021 and has finished in the top 10 in his past six races on the Charlotte oval.

Hamlin has 18 Top-10 finishes in his last 22 races at Charlotte, and Reddick has four top-10 finishes in five Charlotte oval starts.
